1,700 foreclosed Floridians to receive $2.5M TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Jan. 27, 2014 – More than 1,700 Floridians will receive checks totaling more than $2.5 million next week, according to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi. Bondi says eligible claimants identified under the National Mortgage Settlement will each receive a check in the amount of $1,480. The checks are being sent to claimants who lost their homes to foreclosure and later filed a claim under the National Mortgage Settlement. The $2.5 million total value of the distribution is second only to California’s and is the latest distribution by the settling banks to eligible foreclosed homeowners. The total distribution to date to foreclosed homeowners in Florida under the settlement is approximately $109.5 million. So far, about 74,000 Floridians have received money. Bondi, 48 states and the U.S. Department of Justice announced the $25 billion national settlement in 2012. The agreement is with the nation’s five largest mortgage servicers – Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Citibank and Ally Bank, formerly GMAC. © 2014 Florida Realtors®
